“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”Pablo Picasso

“A Sacred Heart artist will have the confidence to explore, experiment, create and reflect.”

At Sacred Heart, we believe that every child is creative and has the potential to express themselves through art. Inspired by the words of Pablo Picasso, we encourage children to develop confidence, curiosity and a lifelong appreciation of the arts.

Our Art & Design curriculum provides opportunities for children to explore ideas, investigate different techniques and develop a wide range of artistic skills. Through drawing, painting and sculpture, pupils learn to express their individual thoughts, interests and experiences.

Children study the work of a range of artists and designers, gaining inspiration from different cultures, styles and periods of history. They are encouraged to experiment, take creative risks and reflect on their work in order to develop and refine their ideas.

The curriculum inspires and challenges children to become independent, imaginative artists who can confidently create, evaluate and celebrate their own artistic achievements.
